Ruger LC9s ShapeShift Core Carry Pack

$99.88

Please note: The ShapeShift Core Carry Pack, formerly known as the Starter Kit, has been renamed to better represent the four most popular “core” carry styles within our growing modular holster system.

Ruger LC9s ShapeShift Modular Holster Kit

The ShapeShift Modular Holster System is patent pending.

What if you could get more from a Ruger LC9s holster? Carry any way you wanted to when you wanted to? Switch between IWB and appendix, and OWB carry as you saw fit when the situation warranted?

Most of the time that require you purchase multiple LC9s holsters, one for each type of carry. That requires time spent looking up the various makes and models, and finding one that will work. But what if you didn't have to?

The Alien Gear ShapeShift was designed to change that. The ShapeShift is a modular carry system, which is the culmination of more than two years spent on design, research and development. We have created a carry system to address nearly every manner of carry imaginable.

The secret is the shell system of the ShapeShift. The ShapeShift's retention shells, unlike other retention shells, use a friction-locking rail to attach to a holster backer for a hybrid holster design or to another shell to create an ultra-durable molded polymer pancake holster, precisely molded for your Ruger LC9s.

You select the carry method by attaching the backer and belt attachment you prefer.

Carry with a Ruger LC9s IWB holster by selecting the larger backer, a traditional winged IWB hybrid holster with adjustable belt clips to set the ride height and cant of your preference. The backer is similar to our Cloak Tuck 3.0 holster, streamlined for greater comfort but still retaining the neoprene backer and spring steel core for comfort.

You can also switch the smaller backer for an LC9s appendix holster, by attaching the appendix carry clip. This holster backer likewise has the neoprene backer and spring steel core; few appendix carry holsters will be in the same universe as this holster for comfort.

You can also attach the belt slide clips when attaching the shell to the smaller backer for an LC9s belt slide OWB holster. OWB concealment has never been easier or more comfortable, and with the LC9s' compact dimensions, you can effectively conceal with as little as an untucked T-shirt.

You can also assemble both of the shells to create an OWB pancake holster, including both a belt slide or Ruger LC9s paddle holster. You can change the belt attachment, just like the belt attachment on our Cloak Mod OWB holster.

The ShapeShift includes a passive retention bar that can be installed on any holster configuration, and dialed to your exact preferred retention setting. In the paddle holster configuration, an active retention device can also be installed for full Level II retention.

The ShapeShift also comes with Alien Gear's comprehensive guarantee, including a 30-day "Test Drive" trial period - during which you can return the holster for a full refund if unsatisfied - and a comprehensive lifetime warranty.

You may never want to carry with anything else.

Good product only 1 issue Review by Tesh

I am very pleased with my rig. I carry IWB it sits nicely at the 4-5 position i really never notice it when sitting. The only issue i have had is it slips down on my underwear so I end up wearing it inside my underwear on my skin to get the grip to keep it from sliding. I wish it had an option to add some kind of grip material to the rig to help with the grip. (Posted on 10/14/2020)

i was really excited about receiving this product. unfortunately when i did i was extremely disappointed. i would say that this system seems to be fairly durable. however after using this system i encountered major issues drawing and holstering. i am using a full size p320 m17. and in the iwb configuration it is almost impossible to draw without bringing my pants with it. now i did try loosening the retention to the point the gun would fall out when tilted upside down, this did not help the problem seems to be with the grippy backing and the length of the barrel. also holstering is also an issue when you tighten the belt the trigger gaurd seems to get distorted and tends to rack the slide when trying to holster. Alien Gear Holsters responded:

Hello Jesse, Thank you so much for your feedback and we do apologize for the drawing and holstering issues here and we do want to make things right! With our IWB holsters the option with out the thumb release is called Passive retention. This type of retention relies on the retention from the adjustable retention unit and the retention from your belt. If you wear your belt tighter we recommend to loosen the retention unit to give it a good draw. Because these are passive retention holsters, this will cause the holster to be loose when you turn it upside down. We hope this helps!

I have been using this product with my S&W M&P Shield 9 2.0 PC every day for several months now and I am very satisfied with it. Everything fits well and has stayed in good working order. Very little wear noted. I generally use the AIWB appendix in warm weather and will probably switch to the IWB or belt slide when we hit jacket weather.
I have since added a second shell for my 1911, which I generally use the OWB paddle for and have also ordered a drop-leg expansion to run with the same pistol.
Just a quick note on the 1911 shell - the belt slide half-shell option does not work on the Springfield Ronin 1911, as the safety pushes the pistol out from the holster base and this messes up the retention. It does fit perfectly in the full shell, so you gain the thumb release but you do loose the option to run that particular gun tighter to your body.
It's a little pricey, but works great and is well made, so overall a 5* from me. (Posted on 9/21/2020)

Box came with everything that was advertised. Assembly was a little tricky, but I managed to figure it out. My biggest concern was that the Glock 17 holster wouldn't fit my Glock but there gun fits fine with no retention issues. (Posted on 9/18/2020)

Would love to try the ShapeShift Core Carry Pack. But NA for Bersa and Kahr. Seems like a limited applicability base. Ratings are random just to get the review submitted. (Posted on 9/12/2020)

When I received the ShapeShift Core Carry Pack I never expected I would use all the different combinations.. My favorite is the IWB Cloak tuck, l wear this everyday possible. I like having the ability to switch it up with the appendix and the paddle holster. I have bought other ShapeShift shells so I can carry any of my guns by making a few quick changes.. This is the best holster I have ever purchased! It is very comfortable and durable, I never leave home with out it! Now I'm waiting for the ShapeShift shoulder holster to get here.
