Ruger SR40c Drop Leg Holster

This product does not include Mag Buckets.

If you want to make your open carrying even more convenient, even more comfortable, how about using a Ruger SR40C drop leg holster? It takes the holster off your waist and frees up space, letting you walk around a bit more naturally. Once you get the feel for it, you might find it's the only way you want to open carry.

Only problem is it isn't easy finding an SR40c leg holster that's made very well. Since it isn't considered ""tacticool"" the way some guns are, that means a lot of holster makers don't bother making one. Those that do are usually universal holsters, which don't fit well and don't offer any retention except for an active retention device...whether you want it or not.

No one has time for that! You deserve a better holster, which is exactly what the Alien Gear Ruger SR40c drop thigh holster system is here to deliver.

Forget the nylon pouches and cheap generic plastic holsters. Our Ruger SR40c thigh holster uses the ShapeShift SR40c OWB shells, which are custom molded for this make and model firearm. No more anonymous fit.

Not only can you expect better retention as a result of the fit, you can also adjust it. Passive retention is fully adjustable, and with the ShapeShift, an active retention device can be installed as well if desired.

The leg holster base is molded from the same nearly indestructible polymer blend as the ShapeShift, so no worrying if it's going to hold up, and the heavy duty straps don't let go once fastened.

Our leg holster is also compatible with our Cloak Mod holster via the new attachment, so carrying with this system is hardly confined only to the ShapeShift.

Wonder if you'll really find it up to par?

That's why we back our products with our Iron-Clad Guarantee, including a 30-day moneyback trial period - during which you can return the holster for a full refund if unsatisfied - and a lifetime warranty on your Ruger SR40c drop leg holster.

Get yourself into a better carry.

Great... for stock guns ONLY Review by Isaac

I bought this holster with high hopes of using it for my 1911. I liked the idea of not having to buy dozens of holsters for different situations. Just get an expansion set and you're good to go.

The issue is that it doesn't fit my 1911. Let me note that the only difference between what this holster will hold and what mine looks like is that my 1911 has LPA adjustable rear sights and an extended slide release lever. Even without the sights, it will not accept the slide release.

While I feel like the idea behind this holster is a good concept, I feel like it falls short because of the inability of the shell to accept variations on the pistol, even the small deviations like a slide release lever. (Posted on 11/16/2020)

This is the best customer service I have ever experienced. Called because I had just received my holster a couple weeks ago and the thumb release button seemed to not be functioning right. No questions asked they sent me another one that arrived the next day! Called around 4pm and the new holster was delivered next day free of charge. This company stands behind their warranty and product (Posted on 5/20/2020)

I bought this in a large but had to send it back because it was to big. a word of advice if your thigh is a 26" in diameter if it start with that size in a medium go with that size
you'll have plenty of width. Alien Gear send me the right size after I returned it. no questions ask. I love these guys. (Posted on 4/28/2020)
Good and serviceable but some oversights Review by Mike

Using with a Glock 32.

It fits well and is easily adjustable. I ordered a medium and was easily able to adjust everything to fit my leg. Especially a fan of the double thigh straps. Leg holsters are inherently unbalanced when the gun is holstered and the brands that only have on thigh strap are often impossible to secure in such a way as to eliminate wobble. Not a problem here.

The retention is excellent, standard trigger guard latch with a thumb button on the inside. The button itself is a bit cheap feeling and has a lot of flex in it, meaning that if your thumb is off to one side slightly when you press it, it will bend to the side instead of going straight down and releasing the gun. It doesn't feel as if it's going to break and training will solve the problem. Still, it is a silly problem to have and could easily be solved by having a slightly thicker linkage or adding a small bracket around it to keep it aligned. Also, holstering requires a bit more force than some other common brands of these holsters in order to lock it in. Again, training will solve this problem for each user but it would have been easy to solve by changing the shape of the latch or adding a small teflon strip to it, or any other number of tiny changes.

My largest complaint, by far, is the belt straps. On the plus side, it is a single strap from the center of the holster that then Y's out to 2 straps. However, the way you secure it to a belt is closed loops you have to feed your belt through.....come on. Other double velcro systems are much better. So much better that I cut the loops that came with this thing off and replaced them with other velcro loops. They're exactly the same dimensions and fit right in the buckles.

Finally, I have some small concerns about quality and durability. The plastic feels cheap and the retention mechanism creaks and squeaks like cheap plastic rubbing against cheap plastic. But nothing has broken yet and it is extremely comfortable and easy to use. (Posted on 1/14/2020)

I haven’t got to use it yet but from what I gather it’s a pretty good holster. The only down side is that it took 3 weeks to get here. (Springfield XD 9mm was the Gun) (Posted on 1/10/2020)

Could not be happier Review by Michael Simi Valley

Just received my Drop Leg Holster. I have a Glock 17 with an extended ported barrel and an extended Mag release so I knew I'd need to do a little Dremel work. Easy enough to remove the thumb lock and use just the adjustable trigger housing retaining system. The straps to adjust the leg and waist / holster height are easy to setup to my individual comfort. Being able to adjust the cant angle of the pistol (holster) was a big reason why I choose a Alien Gear Holster - works exactly as I expected. This thing is extremely comfortable, well made and a great design. (Posted on 5/28/2019)

There is no more wiggle. Holster stays in one place. Firearm locks right in easy draw with thumb button. (Posted on 4/8/2019)
