Ruger SR9c ShapeShift Core Carry Pack

$99.88

Please note: The ShapeShift Core Carry Pack, formerly known as the Starter Kit, has been renamed to better represent the four most popular “core” carry styles within our growing modular holster system.

Ruger SR9c ShapeShift Modular Holster System

The ShapeShift Modular Holster System is patent pending.

Quality compacts such as the Ruger SR9C are practically do-it-all handguns, but it's a pity that most Ruger SR9C holsters can't be the same way. Most of the time, you have to get one for IWB carry and one for OWB carry. You may even get a paddle holster for easy on/easy off applications when you're only going to be out for a little bit.

But what if you didn't have to get different holsters? What if just one holster was able to do it all?

That is exactly what Alien Gear had in mind when designing the ShapeShift. A truly modular holster system capable of multiple carry methods, without compromising fit or function in any way.

The secret to the ShapeShift is the shells and the locking rail system. The friction-locking rails allow the holster shells, both the full-length and half-length trigger guard shells, to be assembled in any configuration without tools. The twist-locking system ensures that any holster configuration cannot come apart unless the user means it to. Along with the shells come a series of backers and belt attachments, allowing the user to assemble any manner of SR9C holster they wish.

To switch between carry styles, you assemble the appropriate shell, backer and belt attachment combination.

First you may notice a traditional hybrid IWB holster backer with belt clips that are adjustable for ride height and cant. Attach a full-length shell and a trigger guard shell to this backer for a more traditional Ruger SR9C IWB holster, perfect for concealed carry. You might notice the backer is composed of the same materials as our Cloak Tuck 3.0, with all the same features.

If you prefer an SR9C appendix carry holster, you can attach the same shell configuration to the smaller backer and then install the larger IWB belt clip. This, the first Alien Gear appendix holster, will allow you to appendix carry in comfort like no other AIWB holster on the market.

However, if you prefer to conceal outside the waistband, attach the belt slide attachments instead of the appendix carry clip. This gives you a high-riding belt slide Ruger SR9c OWB holster. This configuration is perfect for OWB concealed carry, as it disappears under an untucked shirt or light outerwear.

For those occasions when you prefer to open carry, the two half-shells can be assembled for a full wrap and the paddle attachment installed for an ultra-durable SR9c paddle holster.

Adjustable passive retention can be installed on all configurations of the ShapeShift by means of installing one of three included retention bars, which create passive resistance. Or, if you prefer, active retention can be employed as well including a finger lock, thumb-release or both.

Along with the features, the ShapeShift Ruger SR9C holster comes with Alien Gear's Iron Clad Guarantee, including both a 30-day "Test Drive" trial period and lifetime warranty. If you are unsatisfied by the holster within the first 30 days of ownership, contact us and we will buy it back.

Our lifetime warranty is fully comprehensive. Should any issue arise with your holster, however it happens, we will fix it. If we can't, we will send you a brand new holster. Period.

You may never carry with any other holster ever again.

dissapointed Review by jesse

i was really excited about receiving this product. unfortunately when i did i was extremely disappointed. i would say that this system seems to be fairly durable. however after using this system i encountered major issues drawing and holstering. i am using a full size p320 m17. and in the iwb configuration it is almost impossible to draw without bringing my pants with it. now i did try loosening the retention to the point the gun would fall out when tilted upside down, this did not help the problem seems to be with the grippy backing and the length of the barrel. also holstering is also an issue when you tighten the belt the trigger gaurd seems to get distorted and tends to rack the slide when trying to holster. Alien Gear Holsters responded:

Hello Jesse, Thank you so much for your feedback and we do apologize for the drawing and holstering issues here and we do want to make things right! With our IWB holsters the option with out the thumb release is called Passive retention. This type of retention relies on the retention from the adjustable retention unit and the retention from your belt. If you wear your belt tighter we recommend to loosen the retention unit to give it a good draw. Because these are passive retention holsters, this will cause the holster to be loose when you turn it upside down. We hope this helps!

I have been using this product with my S&W M&P Shield 9 2.0 PC every day for several months now and I am very satisfied with it. Everything fits well and has stayed in good working order. Very little wear noted. I generally use the AIWB appendix in warm weather and will probably switch to the IWB or belt slide when we hit jacket weather.
I have since added a second shell for my 1911, which I generally use the OWB paddle for and have also ordered a drop-leg expansion to run with the same pistol.
Just a quick note on the 1911 shell - the belt slide half-shell option does not work on the Springfield Ronin 1911, as the safety pushes the pistol out from the holster base and this messes up the retention. It does fit perfectly in the full shell, so you gain the thumb release but you do loose the option to run that particular gun tighter to your body.
It's a little pricey, but works great and is well made, so overall a 5* from me. (Posted on 9/21/2020)

Box came with everything that was advertised. Assembly was a little tricky, but I managed to figure it out. My biggest concern was that the Glock 17 holster wouldn't fit my Glock but there gun fits fine with no retention issues. (Posted on 9/18/2020)

Would love to try the ShapeShift Core Carry Pack. But NA for Bersa and Kahr. Seems like a limited applicability base. Ratings are random just to get the review submitted. (Posted on 9/12/2020)

When I received the ShapeShift Core Carry Pack I never expected I would use all the different combinations.. My favorite is the IWB Cloak tuck, l wear this everyday possible. I like having the ability to switch it up with the appendix and the paddle holster. I have bought other ShapeShift shells so I can carry any of my guns by making a few quick changes.. This is the best holster I have ever purchased! It is very comfortable and durable, I never leave home with out it! Now I'm waiting for the ShapeShift shoulder holster to get here. Been using the g2s appendix holster for my g3c and love it. The adjustable retention is perfect and the pad is comfortable to the skin. Highly recommend. My girl loves her leg holster for her g2c as well. (Posted on 8/19/2020)
