#10 Glock 22 - .40 S&W IWB Holster

In 1998 the FBI switched from the Sig Sauer P226/228 to the Glock 22, and it is still in use today. New agents today are generally issued a Glock 22 or Glock 23 unless they fail their first qualification. The FBI has almost always stood behind the .40 S&W, but with advances in ammunition technology since 1998, they could be switching to 9mm.

#9 Colt 1911 45 ACP 5 inch barrel IWB Holster

The Colt 1911 is a classic American gun, in a classic 45 ACP caliber. The 45 is on the large end for concealed carry calibers, so the recoil is slightly more than most guns, but it’s sure to knock down assailants quickly. The 5 inch barrel is a little unwieldy in close quarters, but it gives added accuracy.

#7Springfield XD 4 IWB Holster

Springfield is a heavy hitting name in the gun world, and rightfully so. Their XD line of guns are top notch, and the 40 is a great caliber. Slightly more recoil than a 9mm, the 40 is a bit more tame than a 45 ACP, making it a great choice for people looking to pack a bit more power into a smaller-frame gun.

#4 - Glock 26/27 IWB Holster

Glock is one of the world’s most popular brands of guns, and many gun owners will defend Glock to their last breath. The 26 is one of Glock’s guns designed with the “baby Glock” dimensions in mind - all metal slide, plastic grip, as small as you can get it. Coming in 9x19mm, the recoil is light, but the gun packs plenty of stopping power.

The 27 is the same size as a 26, but comes in a .40 caliber. Law enforcement uses this as a backup gun all across the nation, and for good reason - it’s light, accurate, and packs a solid punch.

#3 - Springfield XD-S IWB Holster

Springfield is another heavy-hitting handgun name, and their XD-S is a great choice for concealed carry. Coming in either a 9mm or .45 ACP (both of which share identical external dimensions) the XD-S can satisfy the need you may feel for a larger caliber, or keep things economical. The Springfield name and heavier build means recoil is a little less if you shoot .45 ACP out of this gun.

#1 - Glock 19 / 23 IWB Holster

Glock’s most popular handgun places very high on this list, and for good reason. The 19 might be their best offering. It holds 15 rounds of 9mm ammo, a great self-defense round, is accurate for a concealed carry gun, and has options for 17 and 33 round mags as well, although using such high-capacity mags in a concealed carry handgun isn’t usually advisable.

The 23 ditches the “baby Glock” dimensions in favor of a bit more size and a larger mag. Also shooting a .40 slug, the 23 is a solid gun with a 4” barrel, meaning it’s a little on the large side for a concealed carry weapon, but it’s accurate, and has that trademarked Glock durability.
