You carry the PT738 because it disappears. At 0.87 inches wide and just over 10 oz, it is built for deep concealment in the smallest possible package. Every carry option here is fitted to the PT738's exact micro-compact profile, so you get the same snag-free experience the pistol was designed to deliver. The Cloak Tuck 3.5 keeps it secure and comfortable inside the waistband all day, and the Cloak OWB Paddle gives you fast, tool-free access at the range or on duty.

Taurus PT738 TCP Holster Compatibility Overview

The holsters in this collection are built to fit the Taurus PT738 TCP, an ultra-compact, hammer-fired, double-action-only .380 ACP pocket pistol produced in Brazil from approximately 2009 to 2018.

The PT738's defining physical characteristics are its extreme thinness and minimal overall footprint, and understanding its exact dimensions and design details helps you select the right holster without guesswork.

Taurus PT738 TCP Specs That Affect Holster Fit

The PT738 is one of the slimmest semi-automatic pistols Taurus ever produced. At 0.87 inches wide and 5.25 inches long, its profile is optimized for deep concealment.

The pistol uses a short-recoil locked-breech tilting barrel system rather than the simpler blowback operation found on comparable micro-compact pistols, which gives it a slightly different slide and barrel profile that holster shells must accommodate.

Its low-profile fixed sights are milled into the slide for a snag-free carry profile, and all external edges are radiused to minimize snag points on both clothing and holster surfaces.

Key specifications relevant to holster selection:

  • Caliber: .380 ACP
  • Action: Short recoil locked-breech, hammer-fired, double-action only (DAO)
  • Barrel length: 2.84 inches, stainless steel
  • Overall length: 5.25 inches
  • Height: 3.60 inches (with standard floorplate magazine)
  • Width: 0.87 inches
  • Unloaded weight: 10.2 oz
  • Frame: Polymer with near-full-length steel frame rails
  • Slide: Carbon steel (blued) or stainless steel depending on variant
  • Sights: Low-profile fixed sights, milled integral to slide, no adjustability
  • Trigger: Smooth DAO, no external hammer spur
  • Safety: Taurus Security System (TSS) internal key-lock; no external manual thumb safety, no grip safety
  • Accessory rail: Not present on standard PT738 TCP production models
  • Magazine capacity: 6+1, single-stack

No accessory rail is present on the PT738 TCP. Holsters designed for rail-mounted lights or laser attachments are not compatible with the standard pistol frame. Both holsters in this collection are molded for the PT738's confirmed bare-frame geometry.

A note on laser-equipped PT738 configurations. Some PT738 owners carry the pistol with a trigger-guard-mounted laser.

Neither holster in this collection has been verified for laser-equipped PT738 configurations. If your PT738 carries a trigger-guard laser, verify compatibility directly with each product listing before ordering rather than assuming the standard shell will clear the attachment.

How to Choose the Right Alien Gear Holster for the Taurus PT738 TCP

At 10.2 oz unloaded and 0.87 inches wide, the PT738 TCP is one of the lightest and slimmest semi-automatic pistols in its class. Its micro-compact dimensions make it a natural concealed carry pistol, and both carry styles in this collection are suited to the way this pistol is actually used.

This collection offers two confirmed configurations.

Cloak Tuck 3.5 IWB Holster

The Cloak Tuck 3.5 is the primary concealed carry option in this collection. A custom-molded Boltaron polymer shell provides secure retention around the PT738's polymer frame, and the CoolVent neoprene backing keeps the holster breathable against the body during extended daily wear.

At 10.2 oz, the PT738 is one of the lightest carry pistols available, and the Cloak Tuck 3.5's weight distribution design means even all-day inside-the-waistband carry remains comfortable without the pressure points that can develop with stiffer IWB designs.

Adjustable cant and ride height let you configure the carry position for strong-side, appendix, or other IWB placements based on your build and routine.

The PT738's 0.87-inch width gives it a minimal print profile under standard clothing, and the Cloak Tuck 3.5 is designed to hold that profile close to the body throughout the day.

Cloak OWB Paddle Holster

The Cloak OWB Paddle Holster attaches over the belt with a paddle mount and removes without tools. It is the right choice for range sessions and situations where quick on/off access matters more than deep concealment.

The paddle design makes transitioning the holster on and off during the day practical without threading and rethreading a belt, and the breathable neoprene backer keeps the holster comfortable during extended range or open carry use.

Carry Styles Supported by This Collection

This collection supports two confirmed carry configurations for the Taurus PT738 TCP:

  • Inside the waistband (IWB) via the Cloak Tuck 3.5
  • Outside the waistband paddle (OWB) via the Cloak OWB Paddle Holster

This collection does not include belt, chest, drop leg, or hook and loop carry configurations for the PT738 TCP. If you need one of those carry styles for this pistol, they are not available here.

Common Fit or Selection Mistakes to Avoid

Ordering a Standard Shell for a Laser-Equipped PT738

Some PT738 owners carry the pistol with a trigger-guard-mounted laser attached. The standard Cloak shell for the PT738 is molded for the bare-frame configuration.

A trigger-guard laser changes the geometry the shell must clear, and neither holster in this collection has been verified for laser-equipped PT738 configurations. Do not assume a standard shell will fit a laser-equipped pistol.

Assuming the PT738 Shell Fits the Taurus Spectrum

The Taurus Spectrum was sometimes described as the PT738's successor and shares a similar micro-.380 size class.

However, the Spectrum has a different slide profile and external geometry. Shells designed for the PT738 are not confirmed fits for the Spectrum without explicit product-level verification.

Selecting an IWB Holster Without Confirming Magazine Fit

The PT738 uses a single-stack 6-round magazine that sits flush or slightly below the grip frame depending on which floorplate is installed.

The height measurement of 3.60 inches reflects the standard floorplate configuration. If your PT738 uses an extended floorplate magazine, the grip height increases slightly and may affect holster clearance. Verify your magazine configuration matches the listed spec before ordering.

Expecting the Full Range of Carry Styles Available on Other Platforms

This collection covers two carry styles for the PT738 TCP. Belt, chest, drop leg, and hook and loop configurations are not available here for this specific model.

Do not select a holster from outside this collection based on physical similarity to other Taurus or micro-.380 pistol platforms.

When This Collection May Not Be the Right Fit

This collection is specific to the Taurus PT738 TCP. It may not be the right starting point if:

  • Your PT738 carries a trigger-guard-mounted laser, as neither holster in this collection has been verified for laser-equipped configurations
  • You need a belt holster, chest holster, drop leg holster, or hook and loop mounting option for the PT738, as none of those carry styles are available in this collection for this model
  • Your pistol is a different Taurus micro-.380 model, including the Taurus Spectrum, which has a different external slide and frame profile not confirmed as compatible with PT738-designated shells
  • You need a shoulder holster or ankle holster, as neither carry style is available in this collection for the Taurus PT738 TCP
