Taurus PT111 G2 Drop Leg Holster

For general open carry use, it's hard to beat a Taurus PT111 G2 Drop Leg holster. Whether you're at your favorite range, open carrying around the house or in the outdoors, a thigh holster takes the weight off the beltline and puts the gun at a far more natural position for fast access.

Granted, it might not be easy to find a quality Taurus PT111 G2 thigh holster. Not too many companies make a holster in this configuration for this pistol, and those that do sometimes can leave a lot to be desired. Common drop-leg holster designs are often poor quality nylon pouches with a thumb strap for the only retention.

However, you can shift to a better PT111 G2 leg holster with the ShapeShift Taurus PT111 G2 Drop Leg Holster. This holster can offer all the benefits of thigh carry but with better features than you're likely to find with other drop-leg holster designs.

The fit is custom. The ShapeShift is custom-molded for only the gun you purchase the holster for, so no anonymous fit or complete lack of retention without an active retention device.

Speaking of retention, the ShapeShift offers customizable retention. You can use the Adjustable Retention Device and dial in passive retention to your desired setting, or install the thumb release for active retention. You can also install both for a Level II Taurus PT111 G2 retention holster.

The Taurus PT111 drop leg holster can also be undocked from the thigh rig and docked with a paddle or belt slide attachment to be worn on the belt, or to the ShapeShift Dock. The versatility of the ShapeShift is without parallel.

You also get the benefit of knowing that it comes backed by Alien Gear's Iron-Clad Guarantee.

This includes the 30-Day Test Drive, a trial period after purchase during which you can return the holster for a full refund. Your ShapeShift holster is also covered by a comprehensive lifetime warranty against any defect or damage. Any issue gets fixed or you get a brand new holster.

Make a shift to a better carry.

Nice Product Review by Raven

This holster is a blessing. I have a major hip problem and find it very hard and painful to have any holster on my waist, either inside or outside the waist band let alone behind my back.

The reason I only gave it a 4 on the quality is because I had to tack the straps to keep them in place, they kept moving and shifting as I would move.

All in all I find this a great value and great design. I can't wait to get more of the modular system and try them out too. (Posted on 5/23/2020)

This is the best customer service I have ever experienced. Called because I had just received my holster a couple weeks ago and the thumb release button seemed to not be functioning right. No questions asked they sent me another one that arrived the next day! Called around 4pm and the new holster was delivered next day free of charge. I bought this in a large but had to send it back because it was to big. a word of advice if your thigh is a 26" in diameter if it start with that size in a medium go with that size
you'll have plenty of width. Alien Gear send me the right size after I returned it. no questions ask. I love these guys. (Posted on 4/28/2020)
Comes loose all the time Review by Fox

The straps do not stay tight. You sit down one strap becomes loose in the front holding the holster to your belt. Then you stand up and this allows the holster to drop. Once it's dropped the leg straps come loose. The straps only stay where you adjust them if under extreme tension. So much tension you will loose blood flow to your leg. I'm going to be returning this and looking for a unit that stays where I adjust it. Also slight down side with how far it sticks out from your hip. Needs to be a slimmer profile. Good and serviceable but some oversights Review by Mike

Using with a Glock 32.

It fits well and is easily adjustable. I ordered a medium and was easily able to adjust everything to fit my leg. Especially a fan of the double thigh straps. Leg holsters are inherently unbalanced when the gun is holstered and the brands that only have on thigh strap are often impossible to secure in such a way as to eliminate wobble. Not a problem here.

The retention is excellent, standard trigger guard latch with a thumb button on the inside. The button itself is a bit cheap feeling and has a lot of flex in it, meaning that if your thumb is off to one side slightly when you press it, it will bend to the side instead of going straight down and releasing the gun. It doesn't feel as if it's going to break and training will solve the problem. Still, it is a silly problem to have and could easily be solved by having a slightly thicker linkage or adding a small bracket around it to keep it aligned. Also, holstering requires a bit more force than some other common brands of these holsters in order to lock it in. Again, training will solve this problem for each user but it would have been easy to solve by changing the shape of the latch or adding a small teflon strip to it, or any other number of tiny changes.

My largest complaint, by far, is the belt straps. On the plus side, it is a single strap from the center of the holster that then Y's out to 2 straps. However, the way you secure it to a belt is closed loops you have to feed your belt through.....come on. Other double velcro systems are much better. So much better that I cut the loops that came with this thing off and replaced them with other velcro loops. They're exactly the same dimensions and fit right in the buckles.

Finally, I have some small concerns about quality and durability. The plastic feels cheap and the retention mechanism creaks and squeaks like cheap plastic rubbing against cheap plastic. But nothing has broken yet and it is extremely comfortable and easy to use. (Posted on 1/14/2020)

Could not be happier Review by Michael Simi Valley

Just received my Drop Leg Holster. I have a Glock 17 with an extended ported barrel and an extended Mag release so I knew I'd need to do a little Dremel work. Easy enough to remove the thumb lock and use just the adjustable trigger housing retaining system. The straps to adjust the leg and waist / holster height are easy to setup to my individual comfort. Being able to adjust the cant angle of the pistol (holster) was a big reason why I choose a Alien Gear Holster - works exactly as I expected. This thing is extremely comfortable, well made and a great design. (Posted on 5/28/2019)

Shape shift drop leg holster Review by Kyle

Looks great but performs poorly. The buttons are sticky and get hung up as well. My glock 19 is hard to draw no matter what the retention level is set to. Does not accommodate some after market parts either as in extended mag releases, suppressor height sights, threaded barrels. I knew it would not sport a glock with an rmr but with all the other things it does not accommodate I only have one of my 19s I can carry and thats my daily run of the mill glock that I dont want to carry on my thigh but am stuck with.
