S&W M&P Shield 2.0 40 caliber ShapeShift 4.0 IWB Holster

$55.88
For comfortable concealed carry, the best bet is going to be an M&P Shield 40 M2.0 IWB holster. Carring in this manner can make a subcompact pistol practically disappear, which is why it has become the default carry option for so many people.

But some of them have drawbacks.

Not every Shield 40 2.0 IWB is going to be as comfortable as it could be, due to materials and design. Some are even a bit bulky, which some users find off-putting. Some don't have the best retention or fit, nor allow holster retention to be adjusted to the user's preference. You pretty much have to be satisfied with how the holster comes or else find a new one.

Alien Gear has a better breed of Shield 40 M2.0 inside the waistband holster for you. One that addresses the weaknesses of many lesser models.

Never worry about poor comfort again. The holster base is a multi-layer design, with a ventilated neoprene backer and a core of spring steel and woven nylon. The backer cushions the wearer while letting the skin breathe in hot weather. However, you'll also feel it ride tight with the spring steel flex plate while conforming to your shape.

You won't carry in greater comfort with any other holster.

You also won't have to ever worry about fit or retention. The Shift Shell of the 4.0 IWB is custom-molded for the exact make and model pistol you order the holster for, fitting perfectly right out of the packaging. The unique design of the ShapeShift creates a full wrap of the trigger guard, ensuring the trigger is protected at all times.

The single mounting point of the Shift Shell also allows the overall footprint of the holster to be reduced by more than 20 percent, taking up much less real estate inside the waistband.

Retention is fully adjustable via the Adjustable Retention Unit, and the belt clips can be adjusted for ride height and grip cant and all without the use of tools.

The 4.0 IWB Holster for the M&P Shield 40 M2.0 also comes with Alien Gear's Iron-Clad Guarantee, including the 30 Day Test Drive Trial Period and Forever Warranty.

If you're looking to shift to a better carry holster, you aren't likely to find one in the same class as the 4.0.

Best in Breed Holster Review by EDC Time

I have many different holsters of this type. Some from well known companies and others from gun show vendors as well as many full leather holsters from the better mainstream companies. Alien Gear has done their R&D and have something I think will be hard to improve upon. The holster I used prior I needed to modify for this particular firearm (SR9c) to keep it from releasing the magazine when working on the ground. Also the leather backing shows its age but is still quite functional just has a few blemishes and bends. The ease at which the 4.0 can be adjusted, included accessories, fit and finish, and functionality makes it the new king of the hill and my first choice, Very comfortable for all day wear, good materials and components, attention to detail, shoot maybe there was some alien technology responsible for the design for all I know. After wearing daily for some time now for work and leisure I have not found anything to date to complain about. If you are thinking about one I say get it for IWB carry which is my primary use for the 4.0. (Posted on 6/12/2020)
Comfortable Concealed carry Review by Chuck

The quality of this well thought product is excellent. My experience with a concealed carry full size pistol has always been an uncomfortable and unpleasant, for years and I had come to expect this. This holster has changed that experience, and made the concealed carry much more comfortable than other holsters. The surprising feel of the inner pad, which conforms to my "extra tire" waist size, as well as the hard protect-ant shell that offers a firm click push lock or a thumb release lock, has changed the way I will carry from now on. Nice holster, but not for me... Review by Rich

So after a great deal of searching for "the most comfortable IWB holster" for my M&P .380 Shield EZ, I decided on the AG Shape Shifter 4.0. For me the $55 was a lot of money, but I figured if it was comfortable it would be worth it. I just got it the other day. I set it up for the way I like it and have worn it twice. I will be sending it back tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, it's beautifully made, and a quality holster. It is just not what I am looking for. It is slightly more comfortable than the all Kydex holder I was trying to replace it with, but it is WAY bulkier, and prints like crazy on me. To top it off, I have to have my pants open to get it on, and worse yet, I have to take my pants completely off to get it off. I am not saying it isn't a nice holster, it is, but it just isn't for me... (Posted on 4/26/2020)

I've had this holster for a little over four months now, and I have loved every second of it. It's extremely comfortable, light weight, and extremely durable. One of the things I love most about this holster is that you can adjust your guns retention on it. It does a great job at keeping your weapon in tact. I got in a 70 mph motorcycle wreck and had this holster on, and my gun didn't budge a bit after all the tumbling and rolling I went through. This is a very high quality holster, very comfortable (I don't even notice my Glock 19 most of the time, and have literally slept with it on wearing this holster), and worth every dollar. My only complaint is that alien gear doesn't make this holster in a TLR-7 cut out option. (Posted on 4/25/2020)
Shape shift holster Review by John

Got my first shape shift holster for the P365 and I love it. I ordered the shape shift ankle holster as well for the P365 and a shape shift shell for my P938. They are quick and easy to swap. The holsters are comfortable and don't show under your clothes. You forget your're even wearing it after a while. I wear mine all day every day and it's never a problem. There is no other holster I'd ever buy again and I tried a few different brands before Alien Gear. (Posted on 3/22/2020)

I thought it was going to be awesome after all the reviews I read. But I guess I'll start at the top and work my way down. First, doesn't conceal well. No matter how I adjust hangers or the bolts to make cant more angled, it's obviously there. Its the weapon holding part that is very bulky. I watched the video but didnt let it sink in that the skinny guy had very loose shirt, and the overweight guy......well ......his big belly and waist will conceal anything. So no matter what I wear, its noticeable. And it even pushes my pants so far away from my skin that I look like my ass is deformed. Okay second, there's not enough material to keep the handle of my pistol from rubbing my side raw. It took 10 mins and then it got to hurting bad. Okay, third and last, it also isnt comfortable when I'm sitting in my vehicle. And anyone who has one of these know you aren't going to just easily adjust and move the holster around to where it isn't pushing into my back and side. Sooooooooo, it doesnt conceal well unless I'm wearing a parachute as a shirt( but even then you know its there), it doesnt protect your body from rub/hotspots from the actual weapon, and it isn't comfortable unless I'm standing up. This sucks! I thought this holster was going to be my baby of all my holsters, but I was wrong. I'm at a loss as to what to do. Ive adjusted all I can.
Alright, my reciew is even though it looks good, it doesnt do what it claims to do better than anyone else. I really tried to like this thing. (Posted on 1/22/2020)

Bought this holster for my shield. Absolutely love it, It has been a great holster thus far. It holds up to its name of shape shift and molds to you wherever you may be carrying it. It doesn't move around like some Kydex holsters do. The adjustable angles and retention are also very nice and make it more comfortable.

Bought my 1st Alien Gear holster (3.5) a year or so ago and have used it everyday, all day.. Didn't think there could be a more comfortable holster. Just upgraded to the 4.0 and am thrilled with the comfort and the other changes made, ie, smaller and adjustments can be made without tools. Everything you need to make adjustments is on board. All in all, still the best holster on the market with the best warranty, best quality, and at a reasonable price. The company stands behind there product 100%. (Posted on 12/25/2019)
