Course Description: The Red Dot Pistol Mechanics Instructor Course is designed to assist agency firearms instructors in recognizing the unique challenges associated with training officers in the use of a red dot equipped pistol. During this two-day course, students will discuss the different types of reflexive sights, general maintenance, installation, zeroing, operation, selection considerations, holsters and shooting techniques that can maximize the student’s ability to deliver effective rounds on target.
This class is grounded in technique, individual natural point of aim and the fact that the pistol hasn’t changed, only the sighting system has. Instructors through practical application will learn how to help students better understand the mechanics behind delivering timely and well-placed shot(s) on target while building confidence in the use of pistol mounted optics opposed to traditional iron sights.
Training will include a brief classroom lecture and overview, followed by hands on instruction utilizing demonstration, dry fire repetition and live fire exercises. Although this course is designed as a Two-Day course, it can be modified to address individual agency needs as necessary. This is primarily a shooting class.
Course Length: Two Days (16 Hours) 1,000 Rounds Approximately
